BROOCH FITTINGS

Two kinds of brooch fittings are available here: The Art Clay Silver fitting is a miniature piece of engineering excellence... But if you want a simpler version, the Plain brooch fitting is very easy to attach to the silver piece.

On both fittings, the pin can be cut to size and filed sharp again as required.

Art Clay Silver brooch fitting
Specially made silver brooch fitting to attach to the back of your silver pieces. The two small posts (pure silver) are sunk into the clay at the appropriate points. After firing, the Sterling silver upper parts are screwed in and secured with epoxy. A very neat way of adding a pin to a pure silver brooch.

Please note - the pin is a generous 55mm long to fit most brooch sizes - it should be cut to size and then filed to sharpen again.

Plain Brooch fitting - Pure silver

This brooch fitting can be attached at the plaster dry stage with Art Clay Silver paste. The two flat plinths are attached to the piece with the paste and the piece fired. The pin coil is then placed in the right hand holder which is squeezed with pliers to hold it. Can also be soldered after firing or attached with oil paste and refired in a kiln.

Tie Pin
Plated metal good quality tie pin or tie tack. It comes with a metal pin that is embedded into the back of the metal clay before firing. After firing, the pin needs a little sanding to return it to bright metal.

The pin is pierced into the fabric of the tie and the clutch mechanism grips the pin from behind. The safety chain has a button hook to attach to a shirt button for extra security.
